The Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation is an organization of people interested in CGPL and its services. They sponsor activities that focus positive public attention on the library; encourage the use of the library’s materials and services; encourage gifts, bequests, and endowments to the library; and lend support in the development of library facilities and services for the community.
Mission and Objectives
The mission of the Friends Foundation is to assist the library by promoting its mission of information-gathering experiences through social interaction, programming, technology, and the written word. The Friends develop and encourage community involvement through fundraising, outreach, and volunteer services.
The Friends Foundation has four objectives:
- To raise funds to support and enhance library services;
- To act as trustee for the receipt, management, investment, disbursement and/or disposal of monies, goods, or other effects received by the Friends, by way of gift or other means, for the general or specific use or benefit of the library;
- To raise and promote public awareness of the library’s activities and services to assure community appreciation of the value of the library and its contributions, resulting in the library being the community’s first choice for social interaction and information gathering;
- To provide volunteer services and support for the library.
