Inclement Weather and Other Emergencies

It is the goal of Cape Girardeau Public Library to provide as many hours of public service as possible. We also strive to create an environment that protects the safety and welfare of library patrons and staff as well as library property. Occasionally, the Library Director or designee will make the decision to close library facilities because of bad weather, building malfunction, or other unusual circumstances.

Library closings will be announced using local media outlets, the library’s website, and social media accounts.

If the library closes, library materials will have their due dates extended until the library reopens. No overdue fines will accrue during a library closure.
