Cape Girardeau Public Library and Riverside Regional Library are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership that will significantly enhance the library experience for their patrons. Through a recently established reciprocal borrowing agreement, the two libraries will collaborate to provide expanded access to their vast collections of books, digital resources, and other materials, offering an unprecedented level of service to their respective communities.

This collaboration seeks to break down geographical barriers and bridge the gap between library users, fostering a more inclusive and enriched learning environment. The agreement allows all cardholders who reside in Cape Girardeau County to borrow and return items from either library seamlessly. Additionally, any resident of Cape Girardeau County may get a library card at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

Patrons of both libraries will have access to a wider range of materials, including books, audiobooks, DVDs, research databases, and more. This expanded selection will empower users to explore new topics and interests, thus promoting lifelong learning.

Katie Earnhart, Library Director for the Cape Girardeau Public Library, said, “We are excited to embark on this mutual journey with Riverside Regional Library. This partnership reinforces our commitment to providing our patrons with the best possible library experience. By joining together in this way, we can now offer an even more diverse and extensive collection of resources, catering to the interests and needs of our community.”

“By combining resources and expertise, the Cape Girardeau Public Library and Riverside Regional will foster a collaborative spirit that benefits both communities. This sharing of knowledge and resources will undoubtedly contribute to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of library users,” said Earnhart.

Both libraries are eager to initiate this new chapter and look forward to the lasting positive impact this reciprocal borrowing agreement will have on their communities.

Jeff Trinkle, Library Director for Riverside Regional Library, said, “I am confident that participation in this agreement with the Cape Girardeau Public Library strengthens the relations between the two communities while maximizing our patrons’ borrowing opportunities. By joining this reciprocal borrowing agreement, the Cape Girardeau Public Library and the Riverside Regional Library will provide our patrons with more options for accessing the material they want in a manner that appeals to them.”
