This April, voters in the Municipal Library District of the City of Cape Girardeau will have the opportunity to vote on Prop L, a measure to continue the existing library tax set to expire in 2027.

The Cape Girardeau Public Library is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Library of the Year Award by the Missouri Library Association.

We're thrilled to announce that we have been awarded an $11,033 grant to support our upcoming summer reading program.

Have you heard? CGPL is now a part of Missouri Evergreen, a statewide consortium of over 60 member libraries!

Access to the online catalog will be temporarily unavailable beginning Sunday, July 23rd at 5:00 PM as we make the switch to Missouri Evergreen. Our new catalog will go live on Thursday, July 27th.

It’s our favorite time of the year: Summer Reading!

While we recommend loving your library ALL YEAR ROUND, there is a specific week dedicated to appreciating your community’s greatest resource: your local library!  This year, celebrate National Library Week from April 23 - April 29.

We’ve been working behind the scenes for months now, and it’s finally ready to unveil to all of our favorite people (just to be clear, that includes YOU).
