Don’t judge a book by its cover. We’ve all heard it, but we all do it. It’s what draws our attention when we’re looking for our next great read. The artwork and the font catch our eye, then we pick it up and read the jacket. Looks good!

When I think of “adventure,” the first thing that comes to mind is travel. This summer we are offering a number of FREE travel-themed programs for adults, as well as some on-going travel-themed activities that you can enjoy throughout the summer.

Back in March, the Cape Girardeau Public Library was awarded an LSTA grant by the Missouri State Library to fund the purchase of Memory  kits for adults with the focus of strengthening memory and cognitive functions.

Hello, fellow readers! Summer is creeping up on us, and with that comes vacation time AND the library's annual Summer Reading Program! Woot! Woot!

Only a few days remain of National Parks Week (which is 9 days long, for some reason). Let’s be honest, though: our National Parks system deserves an extra long week. They’re great! Though I must ask, how many National Parks have you been to this week?

Reading is key to children's brain development, and parents can encourage that best by reading to their children.  Your CGPL youth librarians are here to offer you our tips that turn a regular read-aloud into an awesome storytime.

For those of you who don’t know, April 7th through the 13th is National Library Week. Every year, the month of April hosts National Library Week, and the ALA (American Library Association) usually sets a theme. This year, it’s “Ready, Set, Library!” 

Batman. Spiderman. Stilt-Man. You might think of these names when you think about comic books. (Except probably Stilt-Man, who is real and was at one point fighting Daredevil in Marvel Comics. That’s his picture over there.).

During March, we celebrate Women’s History Month by thinking of the women who have positively influenced our global society throughout time. Through arts, sciences, law, and even sports, women have continued to redefine what it means to be female.

March is “National Read an eBook Month” with March 3rd through the 9th being “National Read an eBook Week”.
